Safe Schools/Healthy Students (SS/HS) is a collaborative grant program funded by 3 federal agencies: U.S. Dept. of Justice, U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, and U.S. Dept. of Education. The initiative provides students, schools, and communities with services that promote safe and drug-free schools and healthy child development.
SS/HS has partnered with Donna ISD, Donna Police Department, Donna ISD Police Department, local justice of the peace and Texas Tropical Behavioral Health. The initiative focuses on 5 elements: Safe school environments and violence prevention activities; Alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention activities; Student behavior, Social and emotional support; Mental health services; and Early childhood social and emotional learning programs.
